07 Dec 2022 / Ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra, Bangladesh

The Meteorological Office of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has advised that the depression over southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression over southeast and adjoining southwest bay (near 8.6 °Ν, 86.4 ° Ε) and was centered at 0600 LT today (7 December) about 1625 km southwest of Chattogram port, 1555 km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1580 km southwest of Mongla port and 1550 km southwest of Payra port. It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 km of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph, rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls. The sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.

The listed maritime ports have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal No. 1. Fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the port, proceed with caution and not to venture into deep sea.
