Weather alerts issued

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Kachchh and Saurashtra regions and yellow alert has been issued for North, Central, and South Gujarat.

Light to moderate rainfall in most places with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is forecast today (29 August) and heavy rainfall at isolated places tomorrow.

Squally wind speeds reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph are very likely to prevail along & off Gujarat coasts. Squally weather with rough to very rough sea conditions is very likely to prevail along and off Gujarat, adjoining Pakistan/north Maharashtra coasts and northeast & adjoining east central Arabian Sea until 30 August.

The system is likely to move slowly west-south westwards across Saurashtra & Kachchh region towards the Arabian Sea to reach Saurashtra & Kachchh and adjoining areas of Pakistan coasts by tomorrow. However, there is a possibility of its temporary and marginal intensification over the northeast Arabian Sea.

Port updates

KANDLA:
Inward/outward vessel movements have been suspended until 29 August pm. Movements expected to resume once weather conditions improve.

MUNDRA:
Berthing/unberthing of vessels suspended from 0300 hours on 29 August. Productivity on vessels alongside remain poor owing to sluggish operations.
SPM operations suspended from 1215 hours on 27 August.

OKHA/BEDI/PORBANDAR/VADINAR:
Operations suspended until further notice.

DAHEJ:
Several terminals at Dahej have suspended berthing operations due to heavy rainfall and wind.

HAZIRA:
Port operations continue as normal.

PIPAVAV/ RIL SIKKA:
Operations continue.
