Waiver plan for vessels using LNG as fuel

16 Jun 2023 / Dighi & Dhamra, India

Dighi and Dhamra ports will introduce part waiver schemes for vessels using LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) to meet the country’s goal for lower emissions under the green ports plan and encourage vessels to use LNG as fuel.

The waiver scheme will be applicable for all vessels which are running by dual fuel engine using LNG as a primary fuel in port limits.

The ports will offer 50% discount on Port Dues only.

The waiver on port charges will not be applicable for those vessels which are carrying LNG as a cargo and using LNG fuel.

To qualify, vessels must produce the IAPP or similar objective evidence in the form of certificate prior to arrival, which must indicate the specification of the vessel’s engine and fuel details to avail the waiver scheme.

The waiver scheme will be applicable from 1 July 2023 to 31 March 2024, and thereafter be reevaluated for further extension.
