Underwater noise recording off St John’s island

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.022 of 2021, underwater noise recording off St John’s island will be carried out with effect from 29 March to 9 April 2021 within the working area bounded by the following coordinates:

(WGS 84 Datum)

1) 01 ̊ 12.950' N 103 ̊ 51.150' E

2) 01 ̊ 12.920' N 103 ̊ 51.200' E

3) 01 ̊ 13.030' N 103 ̊ 51.320' E

4) 01 ̊ 13.050' N 103 ̊ 51.189' E

5) 01 ̊ 13.060' N 103 ̊ 51.150’ E

The working hours are from 0900 to 1700 hours from Monday to Friday.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day signals.

Five (5) units of noise measurement equipment will be deployed onto the seabed via workboat. The equipment will be marked by buoys. All equipment will be retrieved daily after the test. A safety boat will be deployed during the testing to alert other vessels from entering the designated testing area.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control); and

e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.
