Unauthorised activities onboard vessels calling at port

Unauthorised activities like buying and selling of goods, demanding complements from any vessel and stealing vessel’s property is a punishable offence.

  1. Buying and selling of goods including articles like mobile, SIM cards, electronics from any vessel is not authorised. As per Government/Port regulations for buying and selling custom and port clearance is required.

  2. Only vendors duly authorised by Customs and registered by ports are permitted.

  3. Demanding complementary gifts from vessel is strictly prohibited. Such acts, if reported, will be dealt with strict legal procedures.

  4. At times cases of stealing vessel property have been reported. Such acts, if reported, will be dealt with strict legal procedures.

  5. Further, it is advisory from the port, vessels must keep all their property under strict vigilance and if possible, under lock and key.

  6. All personnel including vendors engaged in supply of manpower, stores, spares and provisions may be frisked during entry and exit at the port gate by security personnel.

All agents are therefore requested to inform concerned shareholders, including the shipping line, their Principals, vessel Master not to allow any unauthorised activities. If such cases are noticed, request to report the same to Port Operation Centre ([email protected]).
