The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin for Typhoon Yagi, which was estimated at 4pm local time today (4 September) to be about 470km southeast of Hong Kong (near 19.2 deg. N / 117.3 deg. E).
Yagi has tracked westwards steadily and intensified. According to the present forecast, local winds will strengthen gradually tonight (4 September), and the Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal No.3 between 6pm and 9pm. tonight.
As Yagi continues to edge closer to the western part of the south China coast, winds in the vicinity of Pearl River Estuary may strengthen further in the latter part of tomorrow. Depending on the movement and change of intensity of Yagi, the Observatory will assess the need to issue higher tropical cyclone warning signal between tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night.
There will be swells. Members of the public should stay away from the shoreline and not engage in water sports.
