Typhoon Gaemi update (25 July)

Due to the ongoing impact of Typhoon Gaemi, work and classes remain suspended across Taiwan today (25 July).

The typhoon has shifted southward and the center is currently located in the southeast and east coast of Hualien with its storm circle is covering Taiwan, affecting various parts of Taiwan and Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. Wind and rain continue to intensify.

All areas in Taiwan (including Green Island and Orchid Island) as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu should be on strict alert and beware of strong winds and heavy rains.

Vessels sailing and operating in the sea near Taiwan and in the Bashi Channel should be on strict alert.

The Yilan and Hualien areas will be affected by strong winds and heavy rains near the center of the typhoon today.

PORT UPDATES

Kaohsiung:
The current average wind strength in Kaohsiung port North and South entrance is level 8~9 and gusts are level 10~11. Starting from 1430hr LT, all vessels inward/outward operation will be restricted.

Taichung:
The wind force at the North Breakwater of Taichung Harbor has reached the control standard (Beaufort Wind Scale 8, 17.2~20.7 m/s). Ships entering and exiting the port suspended.

Keelung:
Port closed at 2300 hours local time on 23 July.

Taipei:
Port closed on 24 July.

Mai-Liao:
All inward/outward operation are currently suspended.

An-Ping:
Inward/outward operation has suspended on24 July.
