Hurricane Francine continues to strengthen as warm seas and abundant moisture remain the largest contributors to the intensification of the system. Over the next day or so, Francine will continue to track northeast towards an area of increased vertical wind shear while drier air may begin to wrap into the southern quadrants of the system. These conditions may limit the overall strength of Francine.

A short-wave trough developing near the northern Gulf Coast will assist to accelerate the system further northeast with Francine expected to make landfall within Louisiana by this evening.
