Tropical Low 12U

The Ports of Dampier & Port Hedland are currently at Cyclone Stage 1 – Monitor due to Tropical Low 12U which, at 1400 hours local time yesterday (27 January) was located over the southern part of Joseph Bonaparte Gulf in position 14.7S 129.0E.

The system is predicted to track south-westerly and then westerly, moving offshore by Sunday in the Northern Pilbara region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has indicated that if Tropical Low 12U moves offshore, conditions will be favourable for it to intensify to a Category 3 tropical cyclone.
