Tropical depression over Arabian Sea

Oman’s National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre has issued an alert about a tropical depression located near Dhofar governorate, with estimated surface wind speed around the centre between 15 and 23 knots (27 to 50 km.hr), which could move to the west in the coming hours.

According to the alert issued at 02:00 hours local time today (31 May), heavy continuous rain (100-200mm) is expected during the next 24 hours. It could bring fresh to strong winds, flooding over low and coastal areas, an increase in wadis flow and reduced horizontal visibility.

Sea conditions will be rough along the governorate of Dhofar, as well Al-Wusta and South Al-Sharqia.
