Traffic arrangement in Traffic Separation Scheme during pipe laying operation

During Pipe laying operation within Zaqqum TSS, the traffic within the Traffic Separation Scheme will be re-arranged, as follows:

PHASE 1- PIPE LAYING OPERATION IN THE SOUTHERN TRAFFIC LANE
The entire traffic (ship movements) to be shifted to the North part of the TSS.

  • East bound Traffic will utilize the lower part of the TSS, and shall keep as close to the inner limit (South) of the North traffic lane.
  • West bound traffic will follow the outer limit (North) of the North traffic lane and shall stay close to the outer limit of the traffic lane.

PHASE 2- PIPE LAYING OPERATION IN THE TRAFFIC SEPARATION ZONE

  • Vessels will follow general traffic flow and shall keep as close to the outer limits of their traffic lane.

PHASE 3- PIPE LAYING OPERATION WITH IN WEST BOUND TRAFFIC LANE
The entire traffic (ship movements) to be shifted to the South part of the TSS.

  • East bound Traffic will utilize the lower part of the TSS, and shall keep as close to the outer limit (South) of the South traffic lane.
  • West bound traffic will follow the inner limit (North) of the south traffic lane and shall stay close to the inner limit of the traffic lane.

Caution: When in the vicinity of the working area, marines are reminded to;
a) Maintain a proper lookout. Proceed at safe speed and navigate with caution.
b) Be vigilant of the operation barge DLB 750 and the associated crafts during night navigation.
c) Keep well clear from the barge and pass minimum 2000 mtrs from the barge DLB 750.
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 23 (Das VTIS) all times.
e) Mariners can communicate with the Barge on VHF Channel 16.
f) Vessels shall not obstruct the operation of the barge and associated crafts.
g) Follow any instructions form the Barge/guard boats and inform Das VTIS for desired action.
h) Follow Marine Notice and NAVTEX warnings.
