Third tug trial

24 Apr 2025 / Hay Point, Australia

Following a port risk assessment, a third tug is being trialed at Hay Port for all piloted movements for all DBCT vessels over 210 metres LOA.

This trial is being conducted until 9 June, with the aim of all Hay Point ships having three tugs allocated in the future.

The third tug may be declined by DalTug for any operational need or if average wind speeds are below 20kt.

Ship Masters will be notified by the Pilot (upon boarding) that third tug fees will be incurred by the terminal, not the ship.

All current third tug allocation port rules remain in place.
