Temporary establishment of acoustic monitors for dolphin survey

For approximately seven months, acoustic monitors will be temporarily established on the seabed in the following locations (WGS 84 Datum):

(B) 22° 20.299’N 113° 53.871’E
(C) 22° 20.157’N 113° 58.152’E
(D) 22° 18.910’N 113° 58.988’E
(E) 22° 17.232’N 113° 53.004’E
(F) 22° 14.948’N 113° 51.248’E
(G) 22° 13.267’N 113° 50.205’E
(H) 22° 11.917’N 113° 50.481’E
(I) 22° 12.180’N 113° 52.455’E
(J) 22° 11.324’N 113° 54.456’E
(K) 22° 10.241’N 113° 54.808’E
L) 22° 09.367’N 113° 54.521’E

The acoustic monitor is an instrument for collecting dolphin data. It will be fixed to an instrument of pyramid shape with a height of about 0.8 metre and a base of 1.0 metre by 1.0 metre on the seabed. Laying of the acoustic monitors will be carried out by a work boat.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours from Monday to Friday. No operations will be carried out on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The vessel employed for the operations will not stay in the works locations outside the hours of work.

Diving operations for retrieving data from the acoustic monitors will be carried out by the work boat in the above locations from time to time.

Vessel engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution, bearing in mind there are divers working in the locations.
