Storm brewing over Arabian Sea could become cyclone

18 Oct 2023 / Kerala, India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea in the next 48 hours due to a possible Cyclonic system.

The cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep area and the adjoining south-east Arabian Sea and Kerala coast moved west-north-westwards and lay over the south-east Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area.

Officials said that the weather system is likely to move further west north-westwards and intensify into a depression over the central Arabian Sea around October 21, and it could soon escalate into a full-blown Cyclone. If it intensifies, will be named Cyclone Tej.
