Shipping suspended

02 Mar 2022 / Port Kembla, Australia

Due to increasing swell outside port parameters for shipping at Port Kembla, the Harbour Master has decided to suspend shipping immediately.

The swell is predicted to peak at around 1100 tomorrow (3 March) and the Duty Pilot will reassess conditions this evening at 1800 & again tomorrow morning at 0730 with further information at those times.

Meanwhile, the anchorage off the coast of Port Kembla remains closed.

Indications are that it is unlikely to re-open before Friday 11 March, subject to constant reassessment of conditions and shipping movements.
