Shipping Business Unit Christmas shutdown

Australia’s Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts Shipping Business Unit (SBU) will be closed between Wednesday 25 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025, reopening for business on Thursday 2 January 2025. No applications will be processed during the shutdown.

Applications submitted by the following dates will be considered in 2024*:
- New temporary licences submitted before 3:00pm AEDT on Tuesday 3 December;
- Variation to add new matters before 3:00pm AEDT Friday 13 December;
- Variation to authorised matters no later than Friday 20 December.

Applications submitted after these dates, but before the following dates, may be considered before the shutdown period*. However, there is no guarantee that the application will be decided. In some circumstances, the full consideration period may be needed to reach a decision:
- New temporary licences submitted before 3:00pm AEDT Thursday 19 December;
- Variation to add new matters submitted before 3:00pm AEDT Thursday 19 December;
- Variation to authorised matters submitted before 11:00am AEDT Monday 23 December.
Applications submitted after these times will not be considered in 2024.

Timeframes for consideration may be longer if a Notice in Response is received and/or further information related to the application is required.
