Revision & restructuring of port tariffs

25 Jul 2023 / Ghana

Due to increasing costs, an upward revision of Ghana port tariffs has come into effect, as follows:
- a general 5% increase in the US Dollar index tariffs
- a general 95% increase in the GHS index tariffs

Some tariff items are exempted from the increment, as follows:

  • Port dues on vessels
  • International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS dues)
  • Port Infrastructure Development Dues (PIDD)
  • Port dues on transhipment containers
  • Light dues on vessels
  • Terminal handling charges and storage rent on empty containers
  • Terminal handling charges on transi8t and transhipment containers

Further, unstuffing charges on containerised cargo have been restructured. The numerous and complex rates for unstuffing of containers said to contain General Goods, Engines/Spares and Vehicles have been merged into a single rate for various types of boxes.
