Revised anchorage usage & boundaries

The boundaries and designated use of the Anchorage Areas A & B at Mugharraq Port, Al Dhafra region, have been revised to enhance navigational safety, ensure the availability of suitable anchorage depths and define the functions and vessel types assigned to each area.

The charted depths with the designated anchorage areas range from 10 to 12.4 metres.

Anchorage alpha (A) is designated as the primary anchorage area, intended for:
- STS (Ship-to-Ship) bunkering activities
- Vessels exceeding 70 metres in length
- Liquid cargo vessels
- Tug-and-barge units
- Special operations vessels

The coordinates for Anchorage A are:
A) 24 deg. 11.123’N / 052 deg. 30.053’E
B) 24 deg. 12.237’N / 052 deg. 30.529’E
C) 24 deg. 11.815’N / 052 deg. 31.32’E
D) 24 deg. 10.702’N / 052 deg. 30.843’E

Anchorage bravo (B) is designated as the secondary anchorage area, intended for:
- Vessels 70 metres or shorter
- Military vessels
- Ships undergoing maintenance by local workshops
Anchorage B may also be used when Anchorage A is at full capacity and vice versa, provided safe operations are maintained in line with approved vessel draught limits and maritime safety regulations.
