Re-classification of pontoons, jetties repair and refurbishment works

From 1 December 2023 to 23 April 2024, repair and refurbishment works will be conducted at Sister’s Island. Pontoons will also be reclassified.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.112 of 2023, the work will be carried out during daylight hours - excluding Sundays and Public Holidays at Sister’s Island, Pulau Subar Laut (Big Sisters’ Island) and Pulau Subar Darat (Small Sisters’ Island), as follows:

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals. The barge will be lit during hours of darkness, brightly painted anchor buoys with night-activated blinking lights will be deployed at each anchor location.

A crane barge will be mobilised to the work site to facilitate the following works:
1) Removal of existing pontoon and gangway
2) Installation of temporary pontoon and gangway
3) Re-Installation of pontoon and gangway after obtaining the Classification Certificate
4) Minor repair works on pontoon piles & dolphin structures

A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area.
b) Maintain a proper lookout.
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution.
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (West Control);
and
e) Communicate with West Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.
