The following requirements of qualification concerning relevant endorsement or certificate of proficiency of affected crew for local vessels will be affected when the Operating Licenses for any affected vessels are due for renewal from 1 January 2025 onwards.
1. Fast Speed Passenger Vessel Endorsement
- Affected vessels: All Class I local vessels with a maximum cruising speed above 20 knots, including all new and existing vessels with any passenger carrying capacity.
- Affected crew: Coxswains and engine operators.
- Reference document : Marine Department Notice (MDN) No. 255/2022.
2. Flammable Cargo - Operation Training and Endorsement
- Affected vessels: All local gas carriers, oil carriers and chemical carriers.
- Affected crew: Coxswains, engine operators and other crew.
- Reference document : MDN No. 135/2024.
3. Usage of Alternative Fuel - Operation Training and Endorsement
- Affected vessels: All local vessels using alternative fuel.
- Affected crew: Coxswains, engine operators and other crew.
- Reference document : MDN No. 135/2024.
