Post-Hurricane Beryl update

09 Jul 2024 / Texas, United States

The port of Corpus Christi reopened yesterday (8 July) after missing much of the Hurricane Beryl, but Freeport, Houston and Galveston are still closed.

The storm has left much of Houston without power. Crews are working to try and provide power, and about a million people are expected to be back online by Wednesday evening (10 July).

Beryl is no longer a tropical storm as it continues to move further inland, with near-gale winds now seen but forecast to continue decreasing. Maximum sustained winds are currently at 25 knots.
