12 Sep 2024 / Gulf Coast, United States

Hurricane Francine made landfall as a category 2 storm yesterday afternoon (11 September).

Due to weather conditions associated with the storm, around 400,000 people are without power and the New Orleans area is dealing with record rainfall since yesterday. The US Coast Guard has not yet activated Port Condition Recovery but pilots are understood to be ready and able to start moving traffic once cleared.

Lake Charles is also currently closed awaiting for the Coast Guard to survey the channel, which may happen tomorrow morning (13 September).
