Ports reopened after cyclone passes

Ports along the Pilbara coast reopened at the weekend following the passage of ex-Tropical Cyclone Zelia.

Barrow Island declared ‘Open with Caution’ at 12:00 on Friday (14 February).

Port Walcott and Onslow declared ‘Open with Caution’ from 08:00 on Saturday (15 February).

Cape Preston declared ‘Open with Caution – for outer anchorages only’ at 18:00 on Friday and expected to move to ‘Open with Caution (all anchorages and berths)’.

Ashburton, Broome, Cape Preston West, Dampier, Port Hedland and Varanus Island are now ‘ALL CLEAR’. All ports and anchorages are open without restrictions. Terminal operators will need to make their own determination when to resume operations. At Port Hedland, terminals will initiate their own assessment.

The impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Zelia will be monitored and updates provided as the situation develops.
