Port workers to strike

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) and the United National Transport Union (UNTU) will go on strike after rejecting the latest wage offer from South Africa’s port operator Transnet.

UNTU has given notice that its members will embark on protected strike actions across all operating divisions from 0001 hours local time on Thursday, 6 October.

Transnet is continuing discussions with the unions, including at the CCMA for conciliation and/or picketing/strike rules negotiation and agreement.
