Port workers’ strike ends

04 Oct 2024 / East & Gulf Coasts, United States

U.S. dock workers and port operators have reached a tentative deal ending the strike that shut down shipping at public docks along the East Coast and Gulf Coast.

The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. issued a joint statement yesterday (3 October) saying a tentative agreement had been reached on wages. They have agreed to extend the Master Contract until 15 January 2025 to return to the bargaining table to negotiate other outstanding issues.

Effective immediately, all current job actions will cease and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.
