Tug provider Svitzer has announced an increase in the Volume Based Surcharge (VBS) that will come into effect at Port Kembla from 15 February.
In May 2014, they introduced the surcharge to cater for volume fluctuation. The tug job volume for the 12 months ended 31 October 2023 was 3,549 tug jobs, which means the VBS will increase from 2.7% to 11.2%.
The next review period will be for the 12 months ending 31 March 2024, with the new VBS introduced 1 May 2024.
