Port activities to cease for state funeral

14 Sep 2022 / United Kingdom

Peel Ports Group will cease all operations and close all offices (except for safety or security related activities) at its United Kingdom ports on the day of the Queen’s state funeral, Monday 19 September.

The Group will fly all flags at half-mast at all ports and terminal locations until 20 September. During this time, vessels will be asked to comply with the flag ceremonial advice issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Royal Navy.

The UK’s biggest container port, Felixstowe, will be closed between 0700 and 1900 on 19 September for the funeral.

London Gateway will remain in full operation, except between the hours of 10am and 1pm when operations will be paused.

Today (14 September), as part of the National Mourning programme, the City of Liverpool and the Port of Liverpool will present a maritime ceremony in memory of the Queen at Pier Head.
