Operations suspended due to bad weather

All loading operations and barge movements at the port of Kakinada have been suspended due to rough sea and heavy winds.

According to the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board Circular issued yesterday (19 December), the movement of tugs, barges and loading operations at the Anchorage Port was deemed unsafe at of 1700 hours local time on 19 December.

The India Meteorological Department’s warning issued at 21:30 hours yesterday advises that the upper cyclonic circulation associated with the well-marked low pressure area over southwest adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level persists. The system is likely to move nearly northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly northwards along Andhra Pradesh coast.

The Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) is hoisted at Kalingapatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Kakinada and Machilipatnam ports.
