Onboard safety practices during high-risk tasks

23 Jan 2025 / Panama Canal, Panama

The Panama Canal emphasizes the strict adherence to marine safety regulations. This is crucial not only to safeguard operations, but also to prevent incidents that could result in human loss.

The ship’s crew is responsible for following and ensuring compliance with safety procedures on board. However, the Panama Canal remains committed to reminding and urging the maritime community to reinforce safety practices, including the mandatory use of life jackets by the ship’s crew when performing high-risk tasks on board, such as rigging the pilot ladder.
