New Vessel Traffic Service fee

A new port cost called the Vessel Traffic Service Fee will come into effect from 1 May.

The Directorate of Coastal Safety advised that this tariff relates to traffic organisation, navigational assistance and information service provided by the Ship Traffic Services System to the ships arriving/departing ports or mooring areas within the Ship Traffic Service area. It will be applicable at Izmit (Kocaeli, Tuzla, Yalova), Ship Traffic Service areas of İzmir (Dikili, Ayvalık, Çeşme, Aliağa, İzmir, Edremit, Foça), Mersin (Taşucu, Mersin, Karataş, Ceyhan, İskenderun) and Ship Traffic Service areas whose operation will be given to the Organisation, the ships that are provided with Ship Traffic Services and their captains.

The fee will be charged in US Dollars, based on the net tonnage of ships, and accrued separately for port entrance and port exit.

The fee must be paid within 7 calendar days from the date of departure specified in the Port Departure Document. If the last payment day coincides with a public holiday, the payment is made on the first business day following.

Exemptions will be made for:
- Turkish and foreign flagged ships up to 300 NT (excluding 300 NT.)
- Warships, ships carrying Flanders, scientific research and school ships
- Turkish Flag Fishing Ships
- Line Permitted Ships,

A 25% discount will be applied for ships that take refuge in ports and shipyards for reasons of faltering, accident, malfunction, are newly built, entering the shipyard for repairs and maintenance, and do not engage in any commercial transactions. Documents requested for the discount must be submitted within 7 calendar days at the latest.
