Nationwide strike by port workers

Following failed pay negotiations, dockworkers at India's twelve major ports (thoise owned and managed by the Central Government) have declared an indefinite strike from 28 August 2024. The major ports are:

Deendayal (Kandla), Mumbai, Mormugao, New Mangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Ennore (Kamarajar), Tuticorin (V O Chidambaranar), Visakhapatnam, Paradip and Kolkata (including Haldia) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT).

Minor ports and private terminals will not be affected.
