Marine works of three-runway system at Hong Kong International Airport

For approximately 12 months, marine works involving seawall construction and barging operations will be carried out within the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 19.831’N / 113° 55.362’E
(B) 22° 19.842’N / 113° 55.396’E
(C) 22° 19.722’N / 113° 55.441’E
(D) 22° 19.636’N / 113° 55.738’E
(E) 22° 19.638’N / 113° 55.825’E
(F) 22° 19.521’N / 113° 56.230’E
(G) 22° 19.296’N / 113° 56.314’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (H) to (M) and the adjacent shoreline:
(H) 22° 18.988’N / 113° 54.074’E
(I) 22° 18.970’N / 113° 54.019’E
(J) 22° 19.111’N / 113° 53.966’E
(K) 22° 19.119’N / 113° 53.992’E
(L) 22° 19.327’N / 113° 53.915’E
(M) 22° 19.336’N / 113° 53.941’E

The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including pelican barges, cement supply barges, derrick lighters, roro barges and flat top barges.

Tugboats and work boats will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around the working vessels. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the working vessels.

The hours of work will be round-the-clock.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
