Marine site investigation northeast & northwest of Hei Ling Chau

For approximately 10 months, marine site investigation works involving drilling of boreholes will be carried out in the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 15.724’N 114° 00.249’E
(B) 22° 15.827’N 114° 00.348’E
(C) 22° 15.754’N 114° 00.924’E
(D) 22° 15.647’N 114° 01.617’E
(E) 22° 15.422’N 114° 01.579’E
(F) 22° 15.494’N 114° 00.884’E
(G) 22° 15.583’N 114° 00.417’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (H) to (M) and the adjacent shorelines:
(H) 22° 15.526’N 114° 03.150’E
(I) 22° 15.556’N 114° 04.047’E
(J) 22° 15.331’N 114° 03.784’E
(K) 22° 15.293’N 114° 02.718’E
(L) 22° 15.422’N 114° 02.690’E
(M) 22° 15.514’N 114° 02.823’E

The works will be carried out by three jack-up barges and one dumb lighter. Five tugboats will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around each barge and the dumb lighter. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter.

Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of each jack-up barge to indicate its position.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
