Marine site investigation at Sham Shui Kok and Sunny Bay, Lantau Island

For approximately three months, marine site investigation works involving drilling of boreholes, cone penetration tests and geographic survey will be carried out in the following works areas

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (F) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 18.301’N 113° 58.684’E
(B) 22° 18.421’N 113° 58.549’E
(C) 22° 18.662’N 113° 58.997’E
(D) 22° 19.169’N 113° 59.647’E
(E) 22° 19.319’N 113° 59.977’E
(F) 22° 19.239’N 114° 59.025’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (G) to (M) and the adjacent shoreline:
(G) 22° 19.727’N 114° 01.541’E
(H) 22° 19.782’N 114° 01.496’E
(I) 22° 20.211’N 114° 01.551’E
(J) 22° 20.277’N 114° 01.554’E
(K) 22° 20.363’N 114° 01.607’E
(L) 22° 20.404’N 114° 01.673’E
(M) 22° 20.728’N 114° 02.650’E

The works will be carried out by one jack-up barge and one flat top barge. One tugboat and two work boats will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the flat top barge.

Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of the jack-up barge to indicate its position.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No work will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
