Marine incident at Francis Scott Key Bridge, Baltimore

At 0130 this morning, a container vessel struck a support pillar of the Francis Scott Key Bridge causing the majority of the bridge to collapse. Attached is the US Coast Guard Maryland-NCR Marine Safety Information Bulletin 036-24 detailing the safety zone introduced in the area.

The majority of the Baltimore harbour is closed and serious delays in traffic are expected and until such time as salvage is able to clear the channel. Seagirt Marine Terminal has stopped receiving trucks carrying containers for export into the terminal.
