Mandatory use of HPME lines deferred

06 Aug 2021 / Dalrymple Bay, Australia

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) has deferred the mandatory use of High Modulus Polyethylene (HPME) lines until July 2023.

The decision to make the use of HPME lines mandatory for all vessels calling DBCT from 1st of January 2022 has been further extended until July 2023. During this time, analysis and berthing practices study will be conducted to determine the best practice approach to safely manage vessels whilst alongside at the terminal.

In conjunction with the release of the attached Position Statement, the Vetting Questionnaire has been updated removing the future HPME requirement statement at this stage.

Vessels that have transitioned to HMPE lines may have many benefits over other line types and will continue to be acceptable going forward.
