Lockdown extended, some activities permitted

15 Apr 2020 / Pakistan

The Government of Pakistan has announced the extension of lockdown for two more weeks until 30 April to contain the spread of COVID-19 Corona Virus. However, it has also decided to open certain economic activities/operations/businesses, provided they comply with the Standard Operational Procedures as set by provincial/state governments.

The country’s ports and terminals are exempt from the lockdown as they are considered essential services. As such, operations at ports and terminals (including LNG & bulk cargo) at Port Qasim, Karachi and Gwadar are running smoothly without interruption, with critical/essential staff, as per their COVID-19 response plans to ensure business continuity. However, there may be delays in operations.

Due to suspension of local and international flight operations, crew changes have been halted.
