27 Mar 2025 / Guantang, Taiwan
Construction of the CPC 3rd LNG Terminal (Kuang Tang Terminal) at Guantang is nearly complete, and the trial berthing programme is being conducted.
The Kuan Tang plant currently has only one LNG terminal, with LOA restrict 420.0 meters and pier water depth is 16.5 metres with draft restricted to no more than 12.2 metres.
The main channel water depth is 19.0 metres and inner channel 8.0 metres. The channel width is 400 metres.
Daylight restrictions apply. Entry/exit to the port are limited to daytime and good weather conditions, arranged in principle from sunrise to sunset (normally 0700-1600 hours local time).
Terminal capacity: Vessel size: 266,000 cbm / LOA 345.3 metres / Beam 53.8 metres / Draft 12.2 metres.
Kuan Tang LNG terminal is subject to seasonal weather variations typical of northern Taiwan:
- Winter: Cooler temperatures with occasional cold snaps, such as the current cold snap alert.
- Summer: Hot and humid, with the possibility of typhoons, which may affect port operations.
- Rainy Season: Usually from May to September, heavy rainfall which affect construction and operational activities.
