Integrated waste management

As a part of the Suez Canal Authority’s ongoing efforts to achieve environmental sustainability and reduce the ecological impact of maritime activities, and in alignment with its strategy to transition into a Green Canal by 2030, the Suez Canal Authority in cooperation with “ANTIPOLLUTION EGYPT” will launch a new service for the collection and management of solid wastes from vessels from 14 May 2025.

Solid wastes collection and management shall be provided by “ANTIPOLLUTION EGYPT” for all types of vessels, floating units, and small crafts whether transiting the Suez Canal, anchoring at the waiting areas located North or South of the Suez Canal or operating within any waters under the jurisdiction of the Suez Canal Authority.

Mandatory fees for the collection and management of solid wastes will be levied on all types of vessels and floating units according to Suez Canal Net Tonnage, as follows:

Up to 5000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 200
- Volume of solid wastes 3m³

5000 to 10000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 200
- Volume of solid wastes 3m³

10000 to 20000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 700
- Volume of solid wastes 4m³

20000 to 40000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 700
- Volume of solid wastes 4m³

40000 to 70000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 950
- Volume of solid wastes 4m³

70000 to 120000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 1200
- Volume of solid wastes 5m³

Over 120000 net tonnage:
- Mandatory Fees USD 1200
- Volume of solid wastes 5m³

Fees levied for the collection and management of solid wastes of volumes that exceed those aforementioned (included in the mandatory fees), as well as vessels, floating units, and small crafts exempted from the aforementioned mandatory fees:

Hiring Self-propelled barge per usage
- No charges for the first hour.
- Each additional hour, starting from the second hour, is charged at $200.

Fees for solid wastes collection and management shall be collected from all vessels or floating units transiting the Suez Canal regardless of receiving the service.
