The Oman Government has announced the implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) with effect from Friday, 16 April.
From that date, VAT will apply to most goods and services supplied in the Sultanate by any person/business required to be registered for VAT at the standard rate of 5% except where specifically zero-rated or exempt under VAT law.
Oman International Container Terminal LLC (OICT) has obtained VAT registration and tax invoices will be issued charging VAT at applicable rate on all domestic supplies from 16 April.
