At 5am EDT today (1 August), Hurricane Isaias was centred some 80 miles SSE of Nassau & 210 miles SSE of Grand Bahama moving NW at 12mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 85mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected through Sunday and Isaias is expected to remain a hurricane.
Marine conditions will be extremely hazardous this weekend as Isaias moves in from the south-east. On the forecast track, it will move near or over the North West Bahamas later today (1 August) before moving near the east coast of the Florida Peninsula tonight into Sunday (2 August).
Conditions should improve from Monday, outside of any convective activity, with a brisk or light south to southeast wind flow. Expect large ESE swells on Bahamian waters right into Sunday when gale to tropical storm conditions are expected, and winds may gust even higher at times.
Buckeye Bahamas Hub was closed at 11:24 hours yesterday (31 July). Berthing of vessels to the outer and inner berths has ceased at this time.
