Heavy rainfall warning

05 Mar 2024 / Oman

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has warned of the potential of flash floods due to heavy rain.

Thunderstorms, fresh winds and hail until this afternoon (5 March) over the Governorates of Musandam, AL Buraimi, North AL Batinah, Southy AL Batinah and AL Dhahira, gradually extending towards Al Dakhylia and Muscat, with precipitation ranging from 20mm to 60mm may lead to flash floods.

Strong downdraft active winds will have speeds ranging from 15 to 35 knots. The sea state may rise along the Musandam Governorate and Oman sea coasts. Reduced horizontal visibility is likely during thunderstorms.

All parties are urged to take all precautions during the thundershower rain, avoid crossing flash floods and low laying areas should be avoided, and not sail during the alert period.
