Grounding of bulk ship

24 Jun 2024 / Suez Canal, Egypt

At 0745 hours local time on Saturday (22 June), a 87,417 GRT bulk ship with 41 metres beam and 288 metres LOA grounded at 159 km in the southern part of the Suez Canal whilst en route from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean.

Suez Canal Authority tugs were engaged immediately and assisted the ship to refloat again safely, allowing the day’s transit convoys to resume from 1345 hours local time.

No damages or pollution reported by the Suez Canal Authority, and the Canal was totally cleared for navigation by convoys for 23 June which transited without any delay or interruption.
