Further strike action announced

24 Mar 2023 / Kiel Canal, Germany

The ver.di labour union has announced further strike action which will impact vessel transits in the Kiel Canal from 22:00 hours local time to 06:00 hours local time at 28 March.

No strike has been announced for the period from 22:00 hours tonight (24 March) to 22:00 on Sunday 26 March, so Kiel-Canal may remain open and fully operational for the weekend.

The first expected delays for vessels heading towards Kiel Canal are expected to start around midday on Monday 26 March, with traffic allocation plans to organise the last possible safe movements before the full shut down.

Delays could be anything from few hours up to midday on 28 March, depending on congestion of ships awaiting reopening of the Canal.
