Ex-Tropical Anika update (2 March 2022)

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Anika remains as a tropical low, moving south southwest along the west Kimberley coast. It may produce gales near the coast between Wallal and Bidyadanga later today (2 March).

At 5:00 am AWST, Anika was located within 35km of 18.7 deg. South, 121.6 deg. East, 105km southwest of Broome and 20km west of Bidyadanga, and moving south southwest at 19km with sustained winds near the centre of 55km per hour with wind gusts to 85km per hour.

It is moving along the coast, south of Broome. Despite its close proximity to land, it may produce gales along the coast later today.

The Port of Port Hedland is now at Cyclone Alert Stage 2 – Prepare.

The Port of Dampier is at Cyclone Alert Stage 1 – Monitor.
