Draft restriction for transits between Tremley Point and Tufts Point

25 May 2021 / Arthur Kill, United States

Recent surveys conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the vicinity of Tremley Point and Tufts Point in the Arthur Kill show significant shoaling that requires a reduction in the maximum draft for all vessels transiting between these areas.

Any vessel transiting the Southway (North of Buckeye Port Reading) AND any vessel transiting Northway (headed South of NuStar Linden) have the following draft restrictions:
31’6” LW + the rise in tide.
35’6” HW

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are actively solicitating for maintenance dredging which will address the shoaling and subsequent draft restrictions.
