Delays on Free Pratique & renewal of Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate

Delays are being experiencing in the issuance of Free Pratique and renewal of Ship Sanitation Certificates at Rio de Janeiro ports due to port health authorities refusing to go on-board at anchorage area due to internal claims. To avoid possible delays in arrival/sailing, owners/operators of vessel expecting to call at Rio de Janeiro in the coming months are urged to send their certificates in advance in order to to check and advise the best option. Brazilian health authorities does not accept any Ship Sanitation Certificate issued in a port not authorised by World Health Organization (WHO). A list of authorized ports by WHO can be found at www.who.int/ihr/ports_airports/ihr_authorized_ports_list.pdf.
