Cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal

The southern coasts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been put on high alert after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced the formation of Cyclone BUREVI over southwest Bay of Bengal. The IMD has issued a 'yellow' cyclone alert along the southern coasts of both the states.

Below are the warnings issued for Tamil Nadu ports:

Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ennore, Kattupalli, Puducherry, Karaikal: Keep hoist local cautionary Signal Number III.

Pamban: Replace the present signal with Danger signal number VII.

Thoothukudi: Replace the present signal with Danger signal number VI.
