A low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is intensifying into a cyclonic storm. Late last night (2 December) it was centred over the Bay of Bengal about 770 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam. Cyclone Jawad is likely to make landfall on north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts, tomorrow (4 December) morning.
Cyclone Jawad's wind speed may reach that of a severe cyclone for a brief period on Saturday when it approaches landfall. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Gangetic West Bengal.
VIZAG:
The port of Vizag has suspended all inward movements for inner and outer harbour berths. All working vessels at outer harbour berths are being shifted to anchorage. Vessels awaiting at anchorage have been advised to vacate the port limits and re-enter once weather is fair.

GANGAVARAM:
It is to be ensured that the vessels/crafts are securely moored at all times while at the berth. Additional mooring ropes to the extent possible should be passed for more safety. Gangavaram Port Control may be contacted on VHF Ch. 14 for assistance by mooring crew for passing additional ropes or any other assistance.
Main Engines are not to be immobilized / put for maintenance - and are to be available at short notice, if required by the port.
