Cyclone Fengal makes landfall

Cyclone Fengal made landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on the Tamil Nadu coast on Sunday, 1 December. After landfall, the Cyclone remained stationary for six hours near Puducherry instead of moving west-southwestward as forecast. Fengal is forecasted to weaken into a deep depression within a few hours, with wind speeds reaching 70-90 km/h in North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh. A red alert was issued for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry due to expected heavy rainfall and high tides.

PORT UPDATES

CHENNAI/ENNORE.KARAIKAL/KATTUPALLI:
PCyclone 'Fengal' began making landfall near Pondicherry at 5:30 pm and the process was completed by 11:30 pm on 30th November. Inward movement started in the early hours today 1ST December 2024. Light rains continue along the coast, and cargo operations are partially affected.

KRISHNAPATNAM:
The port resumed inward movements with the first pilot arriving at 09:30 hrs, successfully bringing the vessel alongside, while two other vessels are on route to their designated berths.

KAKINADA:
Cargo operations are suspended at Kakinada Anchorage Port, while operations at Kakinada Alongside Berth are normal, with inward/outward movements resumed at 11:30 hrs on 01.12.2024, and the weather condition is cloudy with rain.
